“-ister!” Stinging pain laced through Celestia’s head. “Wake up!”
“L-Luna? Wha-” A hacking cough racked her body, the taste and scent of blood flooding her senses. Her head throbbed, her body was numb, and though she tried to open her eyes, all she could see was murky half shapes. “What happened?” she finally croaked out.
“We… We won, somehow. Cadence went down, one wing sliced off and then you were struck from behind when you tried to catch her.” Luna closed her eyes and sighed. “I thought you had died.”
“You defeated them?”
“No, not I,

Never before had the castle filled her with such fear. It loomed in the chasm, almost as though it was absorbing the light from the torches, dominating everything else. Before, it was all curiosity and fascination, an enigma just begging to be answered, but now that she had the answers, they did not comfort her at all. There was something past those chains and that gate. Something that was either going to save the world, or kill them.
"You ready?" Twilight's words were swallowed by the darkness along with the trembling.
"I was born ready." There was no waver in her voice, no hesitation in her step as Dash took that first step onto the chain

"They enslaved us, ya know."
Braeburn glanced over his shoulder at Applejack before returning his gaze to those before him. Together they watched the unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies wander around the camp, chatting and milling about as though nothing was out of the ordinary. Some were hugging each other, though they were few and far between. In the massive cavern, their voices echoed back and forth making the entire thing feel busier than it truly was. It was a welcome distraction.
"So why are ya so chummy with 'em now?"
He simply shrugged and kept on watching from his vantage point. With barely hidden scowl, Applejack followed his gaze

"Where is she?" A simple question spoken in completely level tones, but the ponies before her quaked in their boots. "Well?"
Pinkie swept her gaze over the assembled ponies. There was no frowning, for frowning was bad. There was no anger; that too was bad. She ran a tight caravan after all. Cool, calm and collected, the three C's necessary for every leader to excel. Too bad she couldn't think of three A's, it was first in the alphabet, which made it instantly better than every other letter except for 'S'.
"I was told that rainbow-maned pegasus was caught." Each word was slowed down so they could follow every single last letter. "Where. Is.

Last chance Dash, this is your last chance . Just take a step back, take a step away from the edge of the tent, lie back down on the bed and everything will be perfectly fine. It was so simple, so easy, so straightforward. Step back, step away, and just pretend everything was normal, that she had never left to begin with.
But... everything wasn’t normal, not with Fluttershy in trouble, and Rainbow Dash could not bring herself to pretend. That would be turning her back on everything she had been taught, everything in the Great Tempest. The stories of Snowstorm and Hail and Pansy, how they stormed Unicornia by themselves to rescue Hurri

"Hey!" Rainbow Dash jumped up, waving her hoof in the air. "Down here! Come on you dumb ass featherbrain, look down!"
Ignoring the pain in her wing, she leapt up, grabbing onto the branch and scrambling up. A sharp crack echoed through the forest as the branch broke under her weight, sending her crashing to the ground. Landing on her bad wing, a sharp jolt of pain forced a cry of pain from her lips and tears sprung to her eyes. With a growl, she rolled onto her hooves, taking deep shaky breaths.
The soft thump of hooves hitting snow could be heard and when she looked up, a pair of blue eyes gazed back at her. The stallion turned and looked

The first thing Dash noticed was the white walls. Each one was impossibly polished, so much so that she could see her own blurry reflection. Columns stretched upwards, taller even than the ones she’d seen in Pegasopolis, and when she looked up, there was nothing but the empty sky. Clear, blue sky. No clouds in sight, and her jaw dropped at the view. There, above her, hanging in the sky just like the stories of old, was a yellow ball of light. It hurt so much to look at, but still Dash stared. She couldn’t help it. It was... it was...
Her hoof reached out, stretching towards the sky, and it was only once a soft pitter-patter e
